4th of July BBQ

Image
The 4th of July is really the unofficial start of summer, and for many Americans, that means a cookout. Whether you’re looking for something simple or want to invest in a more elaborate setup, there are lots of things to keep in mind when planning your next barbecue. When it comes to food, you can’t skimp on the quality. We love ordering from Porter Road . High quality steak, chicken and pork delivered right to your door. You need to make sure everything you grill will hold up under the hot temperatures and keep its flavor intact. For meats, look for cuts that will stay juicy and don’t overcook when grilled. And for vegetables and fruits, try to avoid anything with a lot of seeds or bitterness. When it comes to the setting, remember that what looks good from afar may not be as appealing close up. Make sure your grill is clean and oiled before you start cooking and consider investing in some covering to help protect your food from flies and other pests. Finally, remember that this is a

Picking Up BBQ Supplies for Cheap... Try the Dollar Tree!

It's March and it still is not consistently 60 degrees yet; however, we're more excited than ever for the upcoming Spring grilling season. This is the time of year that we stock supplies and go bargain hunting to prepare for the upcoming cookouts and birthday parties.  A friend recently recommended Dollar Tree. I haven't been there in ages and figured it was just full of cheap junk that no one actually needs. Well, I stand corrected, at least partially. The Dollar Tree does indeed have a lot of junk, but it also has several key staples that everyone can use on a budget.  Here's a list of items that we found... note, the Dollar Tree is not the dollar store anymore... it is now the $1.25 store. Regardless, there are many gems you can pick up when on a budget: Paper Plates Napkins Reynolds Wrap Foil Plastic Cups Condiments: Ketchup Mustard BBQ Sauce Mayo They also have other staples like rice and beans, and PB&J Disposable Pans If you have Dollar Tree near by, certainl

Top Grilling Ideas We're Trying in 2022

As a Big Green Egg owner, there's always another new cut of meat, or new smoking technique to look forward to. As many of you know, you can even make pizzas, or even bake on your BGE! I wanted to share a few ideas and recipes that we're looking forward to trying this Spring season.  Brisket - this has been on our list for the longest time. Our biggest hesitancy has been the time commitment and the cost of brisket. A brisket can run you $80 - $100. and it's also a big cut of meat around 8-15 pounds. I'm sure you can find it for more or less depending on the cut of meat. Our concern was splurging on this cut of meat - and cooking for a big group of people and having it come out poorly. We'll it's time to bite the bullet. We'll be doing a dry run over the next couple of weeks for our friends and family. We'll have the local pizza place on speed dial in case it goes south!

Getting ready for the 2022 grilling season

The 2022 grilling season is almost upon us! Don’t get me wrong, I have been grilling outdoors sporadically, but with these cold temperatures and snow, I must admit that it has been tough! As we plan to get ready peak weather season. I decided to take a look at my gear and see if there’s anything else that I should consider. Right now, I am currently using a Weber Genesis grill and a Big Green Egg.  I was warned that once I got the BGE, that I would use the Weber far less. So far, I would say it’s totally on point, but in the winter, I sure am glad to have the Weber to fire her up quickly and get some burgers and dogs done. How much is a Big Green Egg? It really varies based on the size. Take a look at the chart. The first thing that I am considering this season is buying a reliable pizza stone. We love grilling in the backyard. After watching YouTube videos, and hearing from friends, this looks like a great family activity for all. Pizza is a rabbit whole in and of itself. Not only do
